Each year The Thomas Hardye School CCF enters two teams in the Ten Tors expedition on Dartmoor. In this, self-sufficient groups of six young people navigate themselves across the moor along a route covering 35 or 45 miles, all of which must be done within 36 hours. [More]

THS wins Sustainable Schools National Teacher Award

The Thomas Hardye School became the Winner of the Sustainable Schools National Teacher Award in a ceremony in Bath yesterday. The school was nominated by a Year 8 pupils from Puddletown St. Mary’s after listening to an assembly given by the Thomas Hardye Student Voice on reducing the carbon footprint in the locality by 10%. The Governing Body decided at a meeting on Thursday 10 June that they will apply for an Academy order to be made.

If the application proceeds it will lead to the school converting to Academy status in the future. June 2010

On the 12th May, 10 penguins completed the Purbeck 10k whilst managing to look very stylish indeed!  All penguins completed the race within 1 hour and 5 minutes; the fastest penguin managed it in under 45 minutes, annoying many club runners by sprinting past them at the finish! [More]

Thomas Hearing “UK Young Scientist of the Year 2010”

Thomas Hearing was awarded the prestigious title “UK Young Scientist of the Year 2010” on March 12th at “The Big Bang” Science Fair in Manchester. Tom showcased his project “A Baseline Study of Monmouth Beach’s Ammonite Pavement”, to outcompete almost 200 other projects in winning the top prize in the National Science & Engineering Competition.
