Shakespeare comes alive for Year 10 & 11

On Tuesday and Wednesday, Years 10 and 11 had an amazing opportunity to watch the Shakespeare play that they are studying for GCSE. The National Production Company performed versions of ‘Romeo and Juliet’, ‘Macbeth’ and ‘The Merchant of Venice’.

In a question and answer session following the performance, students gained more insight into the plays which will be invaluable in developing their exam responses. The performances were assured and entertaining, with the Nurse in ‘Romeo and Juliet’ and the porter in ‘Macbeth’ providing comic relief. A Mrs Doubtfire interpretation of Juliet’s Nurse was certainly unexpected!

Students are now being asked to write a review of the performance to consolidate their understanding. The best reviews will be put forward for a competition and judged for the Scholar’s Cup.
