The Thomas Hardye School

Year 12 visit Bath University Sports Centre

Bath Trip

The year 12 A level students experienced an exciting day out this week when they visited Bath Universities Olympic sports centre. The purpose of the visit was to raise our students’ awareness of university and undergraduate opportunities.

The day started with a guided tour of the bespoke training  facilities where the group spent some time witnessing elite athletes at work. They even spotted Theo from Love Island going through his paces on the indoor sprint track.!

The group of 19 students then experienced a training programme of their own when members of the British skeleton team put them through their paces using the latest electronic equipment. It is fair to say that it got very competitive and after 1 hour of exhaustive testing the students were ready for lunch.

The day finished with a lecture on altitude training and hypoxia which was tailor-made to support their A level studies.

All in all a great day which motivated the students to consider higher education.
