The Thomas Hardye School

National School Equestrian Association Championships
Addington EC 19th – 22nd October 2017

Equestrian Team

Our equestrian team of Rosie Russell, Molly Russell, Jasmin Edwardson, Zoe Kibbey, Molly Hayward, Izzy Whitty, Connor Pullin, Olivia Mallows, Charlie Ainsworth and Lucy Andrews made the long trip with their team supporters to Addington Equestrian Centre in Buckingham, to contest in Jumping with Style, Show Jumping and Dressage following their qualifying rounds successes. To qualify for these championships is as always a huge achievement and all riders should feel very proud of their performances.

The Championships are hugely contested, this year bringing forward 1300 competitors competing from over 200 schools from throughout the country.
Our 90cm JWS team of Molly, Rosie, Lucy and Izzy jumped well to finish just outside the top 20.   Molly also competed as an individual in the 90cm JWS and jumped a lovely round finishing 20th out of 36.  We then moved on to the 1.00m JWS teams of Rosie, Izzy, Molly and Conner who jumped some very polished rounds to finish 15th out of 30 teams.  Rosie also competed as an individual in the 1.10m JWS finishing 14th over a tough course.

Our Dressage teams competed on the Saturday, with some added weather effects from storm Brian.  Two teams qualified this year and our first team of Rosie, Molly, Olivia and Jasmin gaining 5th place nationally out of 34 teams an amazing achievement and well deserved.  Our second team of Izzy, Charlie, Zoe and Conner while not placed also rode some lovely tests and a particular well done to Izzy who’s own horse had gone lame and Izzy forged a new partnership very quickly with a borrowed horse.    Olivia then competed on Sunday in the individual Preliminary Championships putting in another stylish test to finish 11th out of 34 competitors.

Riders also had some fun in the Regional Points League Show Jumping Series and the Pumpkin Specials with a lovely clear round from Molly Hayward in her section for the RPL and Jasmin finishing 18th out of 63 starters in the pumpkin special.

Team spirit  and support shown to each other by these budding young riders was in abundance and a privilege to be around.
We look forward to representing Thomas Hardye School again in 2018.
