The Thomas Hardye School

Fantastic Success in Rock Challenge

Rock Challenge

The UK Rock Challenge is a registered charity and gives youngsters the chance to create their own production. This involves coming up with the original concept to the live performance and then perfecting and performing it. The Challenge itself, involves a series of performing arts events which promote healthy life choices. Thousands take part, initially in regional events.

The Dorset event was held at the Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre, where more than 1,000 people attended. Ten Dorset schools, including Thomas Hardye, were there to show off their fantastic routines.

The Thomas Hardye School students had rehearsed and worked incredibly hard, including much out of school time. They performed their energetic routine with the support of their teachers, Miss Higgins and Miss Lockwood, who had also given so much of their time training, encouraging and rehearsing. The piece was student led, with students giving their own ideas (etc) under the creative direction of Maisie Jackaman. Despite the fantastic competition from all the schools, they won First Prize and will now go forward to the Southern Finals of the event.

The School congratulates Miss Higgins and Miss Lockwood and all their students for this fantastic achievement and wish them well for the next stage.

The Rock Challenge was supported by the Police and Crime Commissioner for Dorset, Martyn Underhill, Ansvar Insurance and CEOP.
