Year 12 students visit local dairy

Craigs dairy

Recently, eighteen Year 12 students visited Craig's Farm Dairy in Osmington, as part of their AS Food Technology course.

After a tour of the milk processing unit, milking parlour, dairy herd and their young calves, the students were asked to create their own flavour of ice cream, made with lashings of Criag's famous rich double cream.  Whilst sporting very attractive blue hair nets, the group made mint, gummy bears and salted caramel flavour, whilst the other group produced mocha, honeycomb, passion fruit and mango flavour, both of which were tested by students and staff, to great thrills of appreciation!  The kind staff made us all feel very welcome and  didn't lose their cool even when the butter churner refused to work properly.

We all agreed it was a very enjoyable and informative trip, made even better by the humour and enthusiasm of Trevor, Bill and Emily Craig, our hosts for the day.
