The Thomas Hardye School

Languages take the biscuit (and the cake)!

MFL

On Monday 26th September the Languages Department once again celebrated the annual European Day of Languages. It's a day to encourage language learning for young and old. This year's events were also an opportunity to highlight the huge value of our school's cultural diversity.

'The world strongest nations are always at their strongest and most prosperous when they are open and outward-facing, willing to embrace other ways of life, and when they welcome those who can contribute to their societies.' (Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland).

By pausing to celebrate the 20 languages spoken across our school community we wanted to send a powerful message: that Thomas Hardye is a place where all backgrounds are welcome and individuals of every heritage can feel at home.

Students had a sample of biscuits from around the world and a glimpse of various national costumes amongst other activities. Super!!
