The Thomas Hardye School

Phenomenal Results at GCSE

Rosie and Maddie

Maddie Taylor and Rosie Russell celebrate their fantastic results.

Staff and students at Thomas Hardye celebrated a record breaking set of GCSE results following on from last week’s A levels. The number of students achieving 5 passes at grade C or above including English and maths was 76% - well above any previous performance. The number of entries at the very highest A* grade reached almost 10% while 56% of entries were at grade B or above. The success is founded on excellent results in English and maths where eight out of ten students in each subject achieved a grade C or above: 81% pass rate in maths and 86% in English.

Mike Foley, Headteacher, was full of praise for students and staff: “These exceptional results have been achieved at a time when schools face a volley of reforms to the curriculum, qualifications and exam regulations. However, students have responded magnificently with the support of their teachers and their families. Congratulations to the staff at Thomas Hardye, and staff in our feeder schools, who have done so much to contribute to our continued success.”

The school celebrates the fantastic achievements of all our students. We do note however some spectactular individual results. Maddie Taylor achieved 9 A* and 3 A's. Rosie Russell achieved 2 A* and 7 A's. Michael Norman achieved a fantastic 11 A* and 1 A at AS. Sophie Bennett achieved 11 A* grades and Matthew Kelly 6 A*s. And there were many other students who demonstrated what hard work and good teaching can achieve.
