Captain’s Match Report:

On Monday 6th June, Thomas Hardye year 9s played Gillingham cricket club in the county plate competition. After being knocked out of the county cup, it was really important to us to win this match. We got to Gillingham after an hour drive and made a quick start into the match. We batted first and, after losing a few early wickets, made a solid score of 102. This was mainly thanks to Nathan McNab (21), Joe Message (10) and Orlando Bailey (17) which was made up of some quick singles and solid punches down the ground to counter the swing in the mid-afternoon. After only reaching 102 off 20 overs we knew that we would have to field well to avoid being knocked out of both county tournaments and we made a good start with the ball.

The best bowling of the day was from Orlando Bailey (2-12) whilst being backed up by solid performances from John Stewart (1-12) and Nathan McNab (1-12). We kept them down to 88 from 20 overs and won the match. We are looking forward to the next one!

Man of the match: Nathan McNab (A well-deserved award for a near perfect match.)

Batsman of the Day: Orlando Bailey (To score 17 off just 7 scoring shots? Not bad.)

Bowler of the Day: Matthew Lappin (For a great performance in taking wickets whilst keeping the runs down at the end of the innings.)

Catch of the Day: Oliver Tucker (Taking a high ball to dismiss their inform batsman.
