Imogen

Imogen with her letter of acceptance from the Royal Opera House

Talented choreographer, Imogen Gray, has been chosen as a Young Creative for 2016 following a selection day for Youth Dance England at the Royal Opera House in Convent Garden.  This is a programme for outstanding young choreographers run by Rambert, the Royal Ballet and the Royal Opera House.  A maximum of ten Young Creatives are chosen from around Britain each year.  The process is very tough and candidates had to submit a film of an original dance piece they had choreographed. The best 10 were then invited to a selection day at the Royal opera House. They then had their piece performed and were interviewed by a panel of people from the international world of dance.

The scheme involves residential weekends where Imogen will be mentored by, and work with, leading choreographers and practitioners at the Royal Opera House and Rambert. Her work will be performed twice in months to come.  The scheme intends to nurture the very best choreographers of the future.

Imogen is 17 years old and has been studying dance at June Hornby’s Weymouth Dance Studio since she was 3 years old. This is a huge achievement for Imogen who is also an amazing actress and has already been on TV in various roles and in a movie with actor, Clive Owen. She said “I am absolutely thrilled to have won this coveted place on this highly prestigious programme.”
