Thomas Hardye Stands Up To Cancer

Stand Up To Cancer Cake Sale

Throughout October, The Thomas Hardye School has participated in the campaign Stand up to Cancer to raise funds for cancer research.

The campaign was run by a group of 6th Form girls and involved cake sales, which happened on a weekly basis and selling our Stand up to Cancer badges throughout the school.

In addition on Tuesday 20th nearly 40 students were literally ‘Standing up For Cancer’ across the school and raised money through sponsorship. Also, 3 of our wheel chair students ‘carried things’ for cancer during the course of the week and helped in PE and Science carrying things for sponsorship. Feedback about the day has been very positive.

During this time, Year 11 students had talks about cancer, the boys were informed about testicular cancer, and the girls had talks on breast and cervical cancer. The focus was on knowing about the cancers and understanding signs and symptoms.

The response from the whole school was very supportive and positive and we raised an amazing £1030. We are very grateful to all those who supported the campaign.
