The Thomas Hardye School is a 13-18 mixed comprehensive school with 2300 on roll including 800 in the Sixth Form.  We can offer excellent working conditions, a supportive environment and plenty of opportunity for further development at one of the most successful comprehensive schools in the country.  The superb facilities include an on-site nursery and a new sports complex with subsidised membership for staff.

37 hours per week
Term time only plus five inset days – 39 working weeks per year – 44.65 paid weeks

We require a resource centre manager at this thriving 13-18 upper school.  We are looking for someone who can confidently manage and develop our educational resources, providing expert help and support to staff and students.

The person appointed will:

  • Have a passion for literacy
  • Be responsible for providing an effective and efficient library, information and resource service that is up-to-date and fully meets the needs of teachers and learners
  • Take an active role in working alongside departments and tutor teams in planning and delivering research and study skills
  • Actively promote and encourage the effective and responsible use of a wide variety of educational resources

The school has outstanding facilities and an enviable reputation for excellence.  Ideally, the successful candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent, or working towards, and may already have experience of working in an educational environment.

TECHNICIAN LEVEL 1 XS4.5 (DESIGN AREA)
Salary Grade 5, £16491 - £17772 (pro-rata – 26 hours per week ideally over 3 days per week, term time only plus inset days)

Required from September a Technician for the Art and Design department at the Thomas Hardye School.

You will be working in an exciting vibrant area that has extremely high expectations - the success of the department is underpinned by the concept of students being allowed creative freedom and the opportunity to take risks with their work, being a team player, working across multiple disciplines, and being a creative thinker.  The ability to adapt to a variety of situations is definitely an advantage.

The role will include the following duties:

  • The successful candidate will be expected to order and monitor carefully the stock of consumables.
  • Monitor the yearly budget, reviewing expenditure regularly.
  • Support the art teachers with preparing equipment for project work and lessons when required.
  • Organise, service or repair equipment.
  • Assist with the arrangements for trips to art galleries.
  • Prepare student’s Artwork for display, exhibition or moderation purposes, including the organising and constructing of exhibition spaces.
  • Working with and supporting staff and students across the Art department.
  • Support students and staff during exam periods.
