The Thomas Hardye School is a 13-18 mixed comprehensive school with 2300 on roll including 800 in the Sixth Form.  We can offer excellent working conditions, a supportive environment and plenty of opportunity for further development at one of the most successful comprehensive schools in the country.  The superb facilities include an on-site nursery and a new sports complex with subsidised membership for staff.

TEACHING ASSISTANT – XS10.4b    September 2019

30 hours per week – term time only
Grade 5, point 4 (old point 13) £9.55 per hour
£18,426 per annum with possible increments to £19,171, £9.94 per hour (pro rata: £12,454 - £12,958)

We require a Teaching Assistant to join an outstanding team at The Thomas Hardye School to work with students aged 13-18, with learning and/or physical difficulties.  We are an inclusive school and we currently have two resourced provisions, one for supporting young people with complex communication needs and the other for supporting young people with physical difficulties.

We are looking for someone who is

  • Enthusiastic and committed to the learning needs of all young people
  • Good at building relationships with young people and other adults
  • Qualified at least to level 2 (grade C or above at GCSE) in English and Maths
  • Able to communicate effectively and maintain confidentiality
  • Adaptable, flexible, proactive and relentlessly optimistic

SENIOR TECHNICIAN XS4.5b (DESIGN TECHNOLOGY – RESISTANT MATERIALS)
37 Hours per week, term time and inset days
Grade 7 point 8 - £10.34 per hour, £17,073 per annum pro rata for part-time hours
(£19,945 per annum full-time equivalent)

The Thomas Hardye School are seeking to appoint a Design and Technology technician to help with the daily running of the department. The successful applicant will support teaching staff across Design Technology, but linked primarily to the resistant materials and product design.

The main aspects of the role will include:

  • supporting teachers with lesson preparation,
  • maintenance of workshops and equipment
  • assisting students with their project work
  • ordering and preparing materials
  • maintaining health and safety records

The successful candidate will be someone with good practical skills or has engineering experience.  IT skills would be an advantage, but training and support will be offered to the successful candidate.
