The Thomas Hardye School is a 13-18 mixed comprehensive school with 2300 on roll including 800 in the Sixth Form. CAREERS ADVICE AND GUIDANCE MANAGER (xs205B)
Permanent, term-time plus 2 weeks
Grade 9  £22,067-£25,615 (full-time equivalent £24,799-£28,785)

We require an outstanding professional to lead the Wessex Multi-Academy Trust on their strategy careers education.  The successful candidate will need to deliver, support and facilitate the best possible careers advice and guidance to all young people in year 7 and above in all trust school.  In taking lead responsibility, you will ensure that all schools are working towards the Gatsby benchmarks coordinating the work of colleagues within schools to enact successful strategies for implementation.

You will already hold relevant qualifications in careers guidance or have experience of delivery in schools.  You will be prepared to undertake further training to achieve the necessary professional standards if you need to do so.  You will possess excellent communication skills and a strong desire to provide the best possible experience for young people preparing for the workplace.  You will be confident to give presentations to large audiences, to work with small teams of other professionals and to give one-to-one careers advice to young people.

The post is based in Dorchester but you will be required to visit other school sites so a driving licence is essential.

GUIDANCE LEADER - The Thomas Hardye School XS 10c
Permanent, Part-Time (37 hours a week but term-time only plus INSET days)
Grade 9, actual £22,308 - £25,894 per annum
(full time equivalent £25,481 - £29,577)

 

We require a guidance leader to work within our college system.  Guidance leaders play a pivotal role in the care and guidance of students in years 9-11, looking after their pastoral needs and ensuring the highest standards of achievement and behaviour.

You will liaise with our feeder schools, draw up plans for supporting individual students, monitor progress and manage interventions where they prove necessary.  You will liaise with outside agencies and maintain excellent contact with parents as key partners in every young person’s education.

You will be an excellent negotiator with the ability to diffuse situations; you will have outstanding communication skills, the ability to remain calm under pressure and relentless optimism.  You will be educated to level 3 or beyond, with good ICT skills; you will already have experience of working with young people in educational welfare, preferably in a school setting.

TEACHING ASSISTANT – XS10.4b   

30 hours per week – term time only
Grade 5, point 4 (old point 13) £9.55 per hour
£18,426 per annum with possible increments to £19,171, £9.94 per hour (pro rata: £12,454 - £12,958)

We require a teaching assistant to join an outstanding team at The Thomas Hardye School to work with students aged 13-18, with learning and/or physical difficulties.  We are an inclusive school and we currently have two resourced provisions, one for supporting young people with complex communication needs and the other for supporting young people with physical difficulties.

We are looking for someone who is

  • Enthusiastic and committed to the learning needs of all young people
  • Good at building relationships with young people and other adults
  • Qualified at least to level 2 (grade C or above at GCSE) in English and maths
  • Able to communicate effectively and maintain confidentiality
  • Adaptable, flexible, proactive and relentlessly optimistic
