Work Experience

A work experience placement can be invaluable in helping students come to a decision about future career options and higher education courses.  Placements not only develop confidence and provide students with a greater understanding of the working environment but are very helpful when applying to universities and future employment.

All work experience placements taking place during the academic year must be authorised through the Work Experience Coordinator at the school, even if students have arranged something themselves through a personal contact.  The school will not give permission for students to be released without the necessary health and safety checks and signed documentation being in place.

In order to arrange a placement students should see the Work Experience Coordinator (Mrs Weir) who is based in the library.  She will support students through the process and help them to make the most of the experience.  When considering applying students should allow enough time to process their application – it can take up to 6 weeks to arrange.
