Applying to the Sixth Form and Open Evening

Open evening

Sixth Form Open Evenings – Bookings Essential
14th October 5pm or 6:30pm
15th October 5pm or 6:30pm

The Sixth Form Team is really excited to welcome prospective students from across Dorset to one of our open evenings this October. Choosing where to study is so important that we wanted to ensure that students could come and visit our school.

The Open Evening will be restricted to a presentation by the head teacher, head of sixth form and students. We regret that guests will not be able to visit departments and speak with more staff and students at this time. However, there will two further instances for prospective students to visit the school: their guidance meeting to discuss their application and a taster day of trial lessons, scheduled for June/July. Understandably, these events are all subject to government guidelines and restrictions.

To ensure social distancing and a safe environment for visitors, students and staff we have limited the number of guests who can attend each of the four sessions. Please note that this event is only for students who are NOT currently at The Thomas Hardye School. Current students will receive input and guidance from staff within school hours, including an in school “open evening” event later in the term.

Students are asked to bring only one parent or guardian and booking is ESSENTIAL, only one ticket is needed per pair. Please visit

All guests will be required to wear face masks whilst inside school buildings (unless exempt on health grounds), you can expect to find automatic hand-sanitiser stations on arrival and will be required to follow government social distancing guidelines.

The open evenings are the ideal opportunity to gain an understanding of our school.  see what subjects are on offer and get a taste of the wide range of enrichment activities available. A warm and friendly welcome is waiting for all those who are keen to take their next exciting steps towards advanced level study and professional qualifications.

On arrival, please show your email confirmation to one of our guides who will give you a copy of the prospectus and take you to the theatre for the main presentation by the head teacher and head of sixth form. Our prospectus will also be available online in the coming weeks. The presentations will start at 5pm and 6:30pm respectively on each evening.

Applications for September 2021 can be made online here after the Open Evenings.
